So this one is entirely legitimate.īut I’m still going to have nightmares tonight that, while suspended in the neck-hanger in #1, my torturist (is that a real word?) begins suturing my arm at random. This seems to be targeted at medical students, and the related items make it look like there are fake arms for practicing on. Two (though one is clearly in jest) talk about how effective it is on severing flesh. ![]() A standard household razor blade has a fineness measurement of between 300 to 600 angstroms, and an obsidian blade, in contrast, has a measurement of just 30 angstroms. One comment happily proclaims that it won’t set off metal detectors. Today, some knives are still made with obsidian blades because the cutting edge can be almost five times sharper than highly refined steel. If I ever need surgery performed inside of an MRI machine, I’m hoping the surgeon doesn’t use a $7.08 knife from Amazon. The only reason I can think of for making a knife non-metallic would be (a) you need to perform surgery on someone inside of an MRI machine, or (b) you need to get your knife through a metal detector. Some recipes have been added simply for convenience, so certain items can be obtained more. (Though, short of being a magician, I’m having a hard time thinking of any.) But a legitimate reason for needing your concealed handcuff key to be non-metallic? The Calamity Mod adds recipes for certain vanilla items, weapons, and accessories that previously only could be obtained through chests or enemy drops, so the player cannot be prevented from obtaining those items in their world, or so the player will not have to extensively farm enemies to obtain them. There are maybe even legitimate reasons for wanting one that was concealable. There’s (presumably) nothing illegal about owning handcuff keys. ![]() Whilst this will not detect every person attempting to smuggle something like a ceramic knife though, its intended as being a great enough risk to someone attempting to do so that they will avoid doing it in the first place. ![]() Rather, it’s a large polypropylene club with a huge metal blade sticking out of it. Will a knife set off a metal detector Many/most ceramic knives will still contain sufficient metal to trigger a metal detector. The picture sort of makes this look like a large wooden club with a huge metal blade sticking out of it. If you’re determined to take a plastic knife past a checkpoint where there is no legal penalty for so doing, though, there’s only one way to be sure. But the fact that it’s a real medical thing will not stop me from having nightmares tonight about being tortured with this thing. This is apparently a legitimate medical thing, although they said that about trepanning in the past, too.
